5 Ways To Enjoy Austin While Apartment Hunting

Apartment hunting in Austin can be overwhelming. You’ve got moving dates to juggle, location and budget to figure out, lease application fees and possible pet deposits to pay. As apartment locators, we like to remind our clients that even though there is a lot to get done, there is still so much to enjoy and experience in Austin. In fact we recommend mixing a little play with work while searching for the perfect place. If this sounds like something you could use, keep reading, as we list some of the best spots in the city for doing just that!

1. Patika Wine And Coffee
There is a sweet little coffee house off of South Lamar that never fails to give us that pick-me-up we’re looking for. Some mornings we stop by on the way to work for a cup of joe and their freshly baked pastries. Or on our way home after a long day for a glass of wine or craft beer and some great live jazz.
2. Zilker Park
Fresh air and sunshine are great relaxers and can help you hit ‘restart’ on the day. We love the open fields at Zilker Park for throwing around the frisbee, or relaxing with some yoga. Sometimes we lace up our sneakers and hit up one of the biking and running trails. What’s not to love?!
3. The Magnolia Cafe - South
Austin is known for its queso, check out this article if you want to know the 6 spots that serve the best queso in the city. We love Magnolia South, because not only is it a ‘hop skip and a jump’ from our office, but also because of the variety of quesos they serve! Our favorite is the Mad Mud Chips and Salsa queso, served with black beans avocado and pico de gallo. Delish!
4. Spun Ice cream
You don’t have to go far in Austin to find tasty ice cream, but not all ice cream is created equal when it comes to quality. That is why we love Spun Ice cream, for their excellent and fresh ingredients, plus all of their flavors are made on the spot using liquid nitrogen. Try the vanilla bean with shortbread crumble toppings in one of their handmade waffle cones, you won’t be disappointed!

5. Rainey Street
Rainey Street is a great alternative to having a good time without dealing with the 6th Street madness. All of the bars are in walking distance of each other and serve an impressive selection of beers and creative cocktails. We love the live music, and ambiance of most every spot we’ve tried, but have found Javelina and their brunch menu perfect for a day stop!

We hope you’re loving Austin as much as we are and that you found these places helpful to enjoying yourself while looking for an apartment. If you are about to start your search for an apartment to call home, we would love to help you with that too! Our apartment locators are the best in the city, and our locating service is free.
